Dr. Carl Kappes - Headshot

Dr. Gary M. Billingsley

Dr. Gary Michael Billingsley was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on November 7th, 2024. A devoted husband, he was married to Janet for 46 years; they worked as a team to build up the people and community around them.

Gary was born on October 8, 1956, in Florence, South Carolina, to Frank and Marcelee Billingsley. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Mary Sanders, Shirley Billingsley, Frank (Clarice) Billingsley and John Billingsley.

In addition to his wife, Janet, his family carries his legacy. His daughter Sarah MacDonald, her husband Matt, and his grandchildren, Lizzy, William, Harley and Andrew, brought continuous joy, love and laughter to his life. He is also survived by his brother, Eric Billingsley.

As a long-time member of Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church, Dr. B. was passionate about local and international missions and his work as part of the stewardship campaigns. Perhaps he was most well-known to his church community for his silver boxes, reminding many that their words have power and they should feel like a silver box with a bow on top.

Some of Dr. B.’s favorite times were spent at the lake, where he loved riding jet skis and was always smiling as he cruised around on the pontoon boat. He was content to watch his grandchildren splash around and loved the squeals of laughter as they played in the lake under his watchful eye. He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, where he was the “fun uncle” and was known to win a few games of “spoons.” To know Gary (Dr. B.) was to love and respect him; generations of families in the CSRA will feel that impact for years to come. In lieu of flowers, if you’d like to help his legacy continue, the family encourages donations to Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church - Missions, Quest Church or any nonprofit you love. The family would also like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of Madison Heights and Southeast Hospice for their devoted care and love.

A service will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 16th, with visitation beginning at 10am at Trinity on the Hill, 1330 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta, Georgia.

parent at home with sick child
By Julie Kappes 13 Feb, 2024
Well, I had really hoped to get back to you long before now, but I ran into a problem, there are so many resources to share with you and your children. I really did not know where to start. But after all the sick children we have recently seen, I thought I would give you some resources about what to do when your child is sick.

Welcome to my new blog, “Resource PNP” (Resource Pediatric Nurse Practitioner)! Raising children today seems to be extra hard and extra scary. There are so many things to watch out for and so many things to consider as you parent your kids. That is why I am starting “Resource PNP”.

Kind Words

What our patients are saying

"Such great staff!! Great doctors!! They care about your children and their needs. Love them!!"

- A.R.

“We are new here and couldn't have asked for a better place for our daughter. So far we have been to Dr. Allen and to Dr. Kappas and we were thrilled by the calmness, patience and understanding of them. They respond to our daughter, who doesn't yet understand English and for whom everything is new. They really take a lot of time and we feel taken seriously as parents and more than well looked after. We would also like to emphasize how much understanding and friendliness Edwina and Baylee showed at reception. Thanks to all!”

- J.W.

"Dr. Kappes is kind, caring and thorough. We've had him as our pediatrician for over ten years and haven't had any reason or desire to change our pediatrician..."

- E.H.

“I have brought my children to this office since my first child was born 17 years ago. We highly recommend all the doctors, nurses, & staff. They go above and beyond to put your child's well being and best interest at heart.”

- K.S.

"Such a great place with great doctors. Dr. Kappes and the NPs are so personable and the front office staff are so kind. Highly recommend!!"

- C.B.

"So thankful for Julie Kappes and Dr. Kappes at CPAM. They have always been very attentive to my daughters needs while making me feel comfortable and calm at the same time. We were faced with a very difficult diagnosis and Julie and Dr. Kappes have walked us through every step of the way. Highly recommend this practice for their conscientious care.”
